The Technivorm Moccamaster KBG 741 is one of the most innovative and feature-rich coffee brewers that Technivorm has ever released and with features like an auto-drip brew basket, quick water filtration, illuminated clock, illuminated on/off switch, precise brewing temperature control, two-stage heating soleplate that auto adjusts for volume, automatic shut off feature and a visible descaling notification the KBG is a great fit for any home and is now available in a multitude of colors to suit your tastes.
Technivorm coffee makers were the first to be certified by the Specialty Coffee Association of America (SCAA) to conform to strict industry standards for proper coffee extraction, and they continue to be the highest regarded coffee brewers in the coffee enthusiast community. The unique copper heating element of the Technivorm KBG-741 maintains a brewing temperature between 198 and 205 degrees. The dual-phase hot plate holds the brewed coffee between 176 and 185 degrees in the glass carafe. Brewing is completed within 5 to 6 minutes. Simple water pathways ensure your water and coffee touch as few materials as possible to protect the delicate aromas. The cone-shaped filter and 9-hole water spray head encourage even extraction.
While most coffee experts will agree that a thermal carafe coffee maker is best at preserving the delicate aromas, the Technivorm KBG-741 employs a special hot plate designed to avoid overcooking brewed coffee. Instead of using nearly the full power of the heating element, as do lower-end brands, the KBG-741 switches at your discretion between 65 Watts and 48 Watts of power. The hot plate also switches off periodically. This increases the time which brewed coffee stays hot without turning the bottom of the pot into sludge. The hot plate automatically shuts off 100 minutes after brewing.
The driving force behind the stable brewing temperatures on the Technivorm KBG-741 is its specially designed high-power copper heating element. View the video in the Product Demos tab to see what we mean by a unique design. Temperatures are very stable from start to finish, which is critical for proper coffee extraction. After testing our first Technivorm, we have confirmed reports that it is significantly quieter than traditional automatic drip coffee makers. This is owed to the high-quality materials used.
Technivorm designed the Moccamaster KBG-741 to be simple to clean, so that parts do not build up residue that alters the taste of brewed coffee. Both the spray arm and brew basket are fully removable. The brew basket's automatic drip stop should be regularly checked for coffee particle buildup. The glass carafe is not dishwasher safe but rinses and cleans easily. Original High-Quality Smitdesign Every other part of the Technivorm KBG741 AO Moccamaster Coffee Brewer is chosen for quality and also a purpose. The solid aluminum body lasts a lifetime. The BPA-Free water tank is made from high-density plastic. The 9-Hole water spray head is chrome-plated copper. Moccamaster brewers are designed to last a lifetime, so regularly cleaning and descaling keeps your brewer in great shape for many years. Moccamaster recommends the use of Urnex brand cleaners as other brands may harm the copper boiling element and result in a metallic taste in your beverages. They also do not recommend the use of vinegar as it will not sufficiently descale the brewer. Moccamaster recommends you clean your brewers every 100 brew cycles.

Now that you tried the rest, reach out and buy the best. We’ve had ours for near or over 10 years. The only part I replaced was the spray arm. Every part can be purchased if needed? The saying is you get what you pay for. When we shopped for ours there was black only. Now you can buy the spectrum of the rainbow. However this is a buy you won’t regret!
My family drinks a lot of coffee. Multiple pots every day for the past several years and our KBG741 is still working flawlessly and every component has held up great. JL Hufford is an excellent merchant with accommodating customer service. This was learned from experience.
I have had many coffee makers over the years. I've used almost every different method; percolators, moka pots, Chemex pour over, drip, single serve.... I'm done looking. I love the ease of use and the exceptional coffee the Technivorm brews! Very pleased with this brewer.
I am very pleased with my Technivorm Moccamaster. It is an absolute pleasure to use - so quick and easy….and the coffee it brews is delicious. What an upgrade over my old drip coffee brewer! Now, my next project is to purchase a quality grinder as, dare I admit, I have been reduced to buying pre-ground coffee. I would like to add that I am just about to use the de-scaler for the first time. Am anticipating no problems. Will update this review if necessary. Again, the Technivorm is a high quality machine with a well built feel and look. The carafe is NOT dishwasher safe but it only takes two minutes to swish it out by hand after each *** of coffee and it stays spotless. If you drink coffee every day you owe it to yourself to buy a quality drip coffee maker like Technivorm.
First experience with Technivorm or any coffee maker in this price range. Overall, I am content with the purchase but feel it should be $50 cheaper or have less cons. Pros: Simple and effective. Makes good, hot coffee. Handmade in Netherlands. Not made in China. 5 year warranty. Cons: More plastic than I expected; filter basket is plastic, filter basket holder is plastic (I would have especially liked this to be metal), filter basket cover and water reservoir cover are plastic. Another con is with the carafe, the handle is only attached to the glass with glue or epoxy, this was another big let down (it is a weak point and will fail eventually). It should be attached with a metal band that wraps around the glass. The carafe lid isn't held into place very firmly either and the glass is very thin, so be careful. The showerhead that drips the water onto the coffee is also flawed as the majority of the water only comes out of 3 or 4 of the 9 holes (though I haven't noticed a negative effect due to this). My experience purchasing from JL Hufford was great. Shipped fast and free, price was competitive...an actual human being answered the phone after one ring (extremely rare and appreciated)...Thank You I am enjoying the Technivorm, it produces noticeably better tasting coffee than my Krups did. But given the cons I mentioned, I believe it should be $50 cheaper or not have as many cons.
