Opening and closing your Higo-No Kami
- Holding the knife in two hands and with your fingers out of the path of the blade, place your index finger on the top of the lever and slowly apply pressure to open the blade. Continue applying pressure until the blade is fully open and locks into place.
- To close the blade, hold the knife handle in one hand. Turn the knife so that you can see the interior of the handle. on the left side of the handle, you will see that the steel liner is positioned behind the blade. This is the lock. With your thumb, press the lock to the left so hat it no longer blocks the blade.
- With your other hand, hold the back of the blade (away from the edge) and guide the blade back into the handle, keeping your fingers and thumb out of the way.
Use and Care:
Washing
Hand wash your blade with gentle dish soap. Rinse and towel dry immediately. Never leave your knife sitting in a sink full of soapy water. Drying
After hand washing, dry immediately using a soft, absorbent dishtowel. Leaving water or any dampness on your knife can cause rusting. Allowing it to air dry for a little while before storing helps, too.
Storage
Store your knife in the sheath that came with it. Do not store it unsheathed in a drawer.
