Founded in 1974, Swiss Diamond International Sarl is a private company located in the Swiss Alps. Using the demand for more efficient and improved non-stick cookware as inspiration, Swiss Diamond engineered an innovative type of non-stick coating that utilizes real diamond crystals--which is the hardest material known--and they patented the technology. In 2006, the company sought to improve their revolutionary technology and spent four years researching and testing. In 2010, Swiss Diamond released their advanced HD coating line, which features a 30% overhaul. All current products are manufactured using the new HD coating.

Cleaning
Always hand wash your cutlery to prolong the life of the knife. We recommend you use hot soapy water with a soft sponge to clean. Once the knife is rinsed, thoroughly dry the knife to prevent staining. Never leave the knife in free standing water for any length of time. Placing Swiss Diamond Cutlery is not recommended as it can damage the edge of the knife.
Cutting Techniques
Always cut using a slicing motion instead of a chopping motion. Never abruptly put the knife's edge on hard surfaces, use the knife to open car or jars, frozen food, and bones; you will cause harm to the knife.
Honing and Sharpening
Honing or sharpening depends on whether your knife has lost its sharpness or if it is really blunt. A blade's loss of sharpness can be treated using a honing steel. For dull, blunt knives, use a sharpener. To ensure a beautifully sharp blade, we recommend you hone your knives regularly, after each use. Regular honing prevents blades from deteriorating quickly.
Proper Knife Storage
Proper storage of your knives ensures they will last for a very long time. There are three ways we recommend storing your knives; knife blocks, magnetic bar holders, and special cases and space saving rolls. Knife blocks help your knives to sit beautifully on your counter top, while keeping them close at hand. Magnetic bars safely hold your knives and provide space. Special cases and space saving rolls allow you to easily transport your knives without causing damage or harm.
Cutting Surfaces
Cutting Surfaces should be smooth, easy to clean and "give" on contact while cutting. J.L. Hufford recommends wooden, bamboo cutting boards, or quality polyethylene boards for cutting. Avoid surfaces that can dull or damage the knife such as china, marble, granite, tile, Formica, porcelain, stainless counter tops and glass. Remember to thoroughly clean cutting boards immediately after use after use to prevent harmful bacteria growth from developing.
