Peppermint is not just peppermint. Oh no, it is in fact a mixture of two mint plants to make up the peppermint flavor. It is a cross between watermint and spearmint. Peppermint is sometimes regarded as “the world’s oldest medicine”. It has archaeological evidence placing its use at least as far back as ten thousand years ago. Peppermint has a high menthol content and is often used in tea, ice cream, chewing gum, and toothpaste as flavoring. Some shampoos and soaps even have peppermint oils in them. It will give you hair a minty scent and gives a cooling sensation on the skin. It is said to also have the ability to help soothe and relax muscles when inhaled or applied directly to the skin. Peppermint helps fight stomach aches and inhibits the growth of some bacteria. Peppermint really has a lot of uses and high health content as well!
