The Capresso MT500

Coffee Snob Certified :: JL Hufford Marketing

We at the office try to take advantage of the work environment. We come to work at a warehouse that has over 400lbs. of gourmet coffee in stock at any given point. Being the good employees we are, we try and sample as much as possible. How on Earth could we, in good conscience, recommend coffees or accessories if we ourselves hadn't tried them?

Because of the vast selection of coffee we have to choose from, we put our coffee maker through a workout. We have anywhere from 5-10 people in the office at a time. This means we probably go to 3-4 pots of coffee a day. This wouldn't be a big deal with an industrial coffee maker, but we have a refurb MT500. We like to have confidence in our products but sometimes we aren't able to get around to testing all of them. The MT500 is something that we have heard a lot about, and after realizing how much wear and tear we've put on this machine, I have to declare it the most durable and consistent coffee maker I've ever experienced.

You take it for granted when you use something every day. So I just wanted to suggest the MT500 for anyone looking for a coffee maker to perform consistently. The MT500 has put up with more abuse from this office than I care to calculate and it still gives us amazingly hot and fresh coffee every time we hit the "on" button. The thermal carafe really does keep the coffee scorching hot for hours, the goldtone filter is super easy to clean out. If you're in search of a coffee maker, this is the one.

Oh yeah, with all the coffee we've tasted, what's my favorite? Fair Trade Haitian Bleu, without a doubt.

Happy Brewing!

Delonghi Magnifica 3300 - Staff Review

I have been using this machine in our sales office to make my morning start-up cup of coffee, caramel macchiato, or iced coffee drink for several weeks and wanted to share my opinion. I really like its ease of use. Even though it isn't digital, using the two dials to set the amount of ounces and strength is straight-forward. And that makes it extremely easy to change from the other people in the office using it. Especially the guy that maxes out the strength setting every time.

Now that the weather here in Indiana is turning cold, I've used the milk wand for both hot water dispensing to make hot chocolate and to froth milk for a caramel macchiato. A lot of our customers look for a machine that can make milk foam well. I used a 16 oz. milk pitcher and the amount of milk foam was exceptional. This was produced without any effort. So much I even poured some off to get to the steamed milk.

Overall, I think this coffee maker is pretty cool because it is easy to use and makes great coffee or espresso and milk froth. Hopefully it can stick around our office a little bit longer.

My Pros and Cons of the KM7000

I have had the fortunate opportunity to use a lot of coffee makers.  From the old fashioned methods like Vacuumed or French Press to extremely simple rudimentary cowboy coffee to the newest Superauto’s and Grind and Brews.  Here are my Pros and Cons of the KM7000 machine

Pros

  1. Makes a great strong cup of coffee.
  2. Good grind variation
  3. Reliable
  4. Relatively quiet brew
  5. Good price compared to similar gourmet grind and brew brand names
  6. Disassembles for easy cleaning

Cons

  1. Took some getting used to for the way the coffee filer basket and lid swing out
  2. The whole machine seemed kind of flimsy
  3. I think the layout of the machine is ugly
  4. Takes a few cycles to remove the rubbery taste of the machine

In conclusion the KM7000 does make a great cup of coffee but for me personally I would rather go with a Saeco or Jura’s versions of the grind and brew.

Capresso MT600 Thermal Coffee Maker

The Jura Capresso MT 600 is a great drip coffee maker.  It has a timer function to start brewing when you want it to and makes a nice hot cup of coffee.  The 10 cup thermal carafe keeps the coffee hot for hours after brewing.  I know I can get busy and forget about the coffee I just brewed sometimes for a few hours.  The thermals heat retaining ability is very convenient instances like this.  Even now, almost 6 hours after brewing the coffee, right out of the thermal is still steaming.  Secondly I find that microwaving a cup of coffee can sometimes leave an oily looking film on the top of your cup of jo.  This is neither tasty nor appealing.  We use one of these machines in our office daily and on average it will see good 2-3 pots roll through its system.  It is easy to clean and constantly brews well, flavored coffee or not.  JL Hufford has it priced very competitively for a quality coffee maker and a gourmet brand name.

Solid Grid to Brew choice

The Jura Capresso Coffee Team TS and GS are easy to use, easy to clean and make a good cup of coffee. You can choose between a 10 cup thermal or a 12 cup glass carafe depending on what type of coffee maker will suit you better.  I know that certain grind and brew machines tend to use an excessive amount of coffee beans, not the case with the Coffee Teams. It comes with adjustable grind size as well as an adjustable coffee strength.  The one thing I had to learn about the grinder before I could really choose the grind size would be that you need to have the grinder running to change the coarseness.

Per usual, with higher quality machines, it has the standard programmable start grind and brew times as well as the number of cups desired.  This machine does make fresh coffee very convenient and maximizes fresh grounds for the user that wants their cup of coffee hot and ready when they don’t have time to mess around with waiting.

Bodum Santos Vacuum Coffee Maker

I bought a Bodum Santos vacuum coffee maker for my sister as a graduation gift. Aside from the fact that she absolutely loved it, it makes wonderful coffee. I never thought that the process of brewing coffee could be fun. The beautiful clear glass allowed us to watch the water slowly rise into the upper carafe. The vacuum technology behind this method flushes the brewed drink from the top carafe down into the bottom. The instructions are simple and grind size does not make a difference in this method of brewing. This method of brewing makes some of the hottest coffee possible. The only cautions I have about this machine is the fact that it is almost completely glass and might break if knocked over.

Saeco Easy Fill thermal Coffee maker

I have owned a thermal coffee maker for most of my coffee drinking days.  I had a simple machine and found that since I was a more rounded coffee drinker I could step up my machine to a name brand.  On JL Hufford I found a Saeco Easy Fill thermal coffee maker and invested.  The machine was great in all areas but one, the thermal carafe.  I have used thermal carafes before and understand that they do need to be poured a little slower than the traditional glass carafe but even with this in mind I found it hard to keep a nice stream of coffee going into my cup! I was a little frustrated and decided to contact the manufacturer to see if they had any tips for me.  Come to find out I am not the only person to currently have issues with this carafe.  In fact they designed another that is much easier to use and shipped it to me free of charge.  Now I have a wonderful, in all aspects, thermal coffee maker that I enjoy and would gladly suggest to anyone looking to upgrade!

Team Coffee

http://www.greenmountaincoffee.com/Content/ProdImages/09-equipment-coffee-team-GS-lg.jpg

Having a great coffee maker for your household can make a huge impact especially in the mornings. The Capresso CoffeeTeam GS is an amazing machine that has a lot of benefits. The design, grinder, programmable brewing, and filtration help make the GS work for you. Its great that the CoffeeTeam GS will remind me to switch my filter in order to keep my water clean so my coffee tastes better. The programmable brewing is probably my favorite part of my new coffee maker. Setting a time for my coffee to be brewed helps me multi-task instead of forgetting to turn on the coffeemaker until I am ready to leave. I also really appreciate the 2 hour safety shut off so I don't have to worry about the machine being on all day. This machine makes it so easy to make and enjoy my coffee.
