We constantly get calls and chats with the question, "Well, which is better.. .Vita-Mix or Blendtec?" I always tell customers that the main difference is that Vita-Mix units are more of a manual control while Blendtec's are digital. With the Vita-Mix machines using a variable speed dial, you will need to either stay next to the machine to turn it off when it is done blending, or you could just set a timer on your microwave to remind you to turn it off. Blendtec's have pre-programmed cycles ranging from ice cream to soups. These cycles will turn off after they have completed. If you are wanting to alter how long the cycles run, you would not be able to. You would have to either run the cycle again or you could just use the pulse button a few times. Both companies units can make peanut butter, ice cream, smoothies, soups and etc. They also both send a recipe book that accompanies their machine, that will give you detailed instructions on how to recreate the items that you find in the book. Now the question that you need to ask yourself is, Digital or Manual?

The Blendtec ICB 3 blenders are 13 amps and are commercial work horses for mixed drinks. These machines were used in Starbucks store's across the country. Long story short Starbucks switched the line out for the Vitamix quiet one blender because it blended 10 decibels quieter. The ICB 3 comes with a sound enclosure that drastically reduces the blender noise and has 4 preset buttons with programmed Starbucks blending cycles! The number 1 and number 2 buttons are labeled for single and multiple drinks. ICB 3's are warranted for an additional 6 months after purchase and come with features that if priced as new would approach the 1000$ mark. Another really neat feature about this machine is that its original Jar is still marked with the Starbucks measurements of: Tall-12 ounce, Grande-16 ounces and Vente-20 ounces. It only comes in one color, coffee; it still functions as an exceptional commercial machine.

I was looking at purchasing a commercial blender and it came down to some hard choices between Vita-mix and Blendtec. I wanted something powerful enough to make ice-cream or sorbet. Specifically I was looking between a Vita Prep 3 and some accessories and a Smother Q 15 amp with 96oz and 64 oz jars. I know there is quite a price jump between the 2 but I figured in the accessories if I opted for the Vita Prep 3 making the purchase a little closer ($199( Whisper Blend Sound Enclosure)+ $485(Vita Prep 3) +104.99( an extra Jar) = $788.99 vs. $879(Smoother Q 15). End the end I went for the Smoother Q 15 amp and here is why. The Smoother Q has a more powerful motor reducing the chance of bogging down its motor. I also really liked the fact that if I wanted to I could reprogram this machine picking between 30 potential settings. Finally the Wildside Jar offered with this combo really sweetened the deal as it is advertised to help in making smooth consistent recipes, more so then the 64oz jars. I am very happy with my purchase would suggest either of these machines given this scenario.

There are lots of advertisements for quick fix weight loss solutions but honestly I don’t think it will be or should be an easy task. Much of America is unhealthy and I wanted to find some way I could start changing my life to be more bodily conscious. I have seen lots of advertisements for “green smoothies” and decided to break down and read up on it. I found them to be strait forward: healthy ingredients mixed together, combined with regular exercise could make one healthier and it made since to me. But before I could start with this reformation I needed to invest into decent blender. I figured I had the money and like to go big or go home so I bought the best blender on the market a Blendtec Smoother Q 20 amp blender. The blender is a beast and the sound enclosure has a huge noise dampening effect on the blender. It reduces the sound so much so that you can actually have a conversation next to the blender without having to raise your voice. Luckily I put this blender in my kitchen but I did notice that due to the fact that it is 20amps it request a different electrical outlet.

Blendtec's Chef Batter Mixer is a unique unit that will help speed up productivity in the busiest of businesses. It even has 3 buttons that you can program your favorite settings to. It will help with consistency, so you will have the ease of mind that it will come out perfectly every time, as long as all of the correct ingredients are put in and not forgotten. It also offers you a pulse option, if you need to mix the ingredients together quickly and do not need the litter or medium batter buttons. This will help you create 4 quarts or 1 gallon of batter at a time! How long was it taking you before to mix everything? How many times did you have to mix it in different sized bowls to get your end result?

It is easy to use with the Smart-Touch technology. All I have to do is press a cycle button and it shuts off when the cycle is complete. It is so nice not having to manually use a dial to adjust the speed because the cycles take care of it for me. Color options are available so you can choose your favorite. Also, this blender can fit perfectly under your cabinet so it's available to use daily.

We typically get questions about what is the difference between a home and a commercial blender. With a home blender you do get a longer warranty. Currently both Vita-Mix and Blendtec have a 7 year warranty for their blenders, except for if you are looking at the Vita-Mix TurboBlend. The TurboBlend only has a 5 year warranty. With a commercial blender, the warranties vary by which one you are looking at. If you are unsure how long it is, make sure that you scroll down the webpage and it will tell you. Home units also give you a cookbook that you wouldn't receive with a commercial unit. The cookbook has several different categories from beverages to soups and sauces for several different items that you can make in your blender. Also with commercial products, you do get a shorter return policy, which is only 7 business days. With a home product you have a 30 day return policy. You can find our return policy at the bottom of any webpage at the link labeled Cancellation/Return Policy.

Blendtec and Vitamix and hands down the two best name brands for blenders on the market today. Each has their unique benefits that make each company so quality. Vita mix is known for their rudimentary blenders that tend to have more knobs and toggle switches where as it pride them self’s on the variety of mixing programs that that their blenders offer. Unfortunately the jars that that these two great companies use are not interchangeable so it can get tricky knowing what jar to pick. Blendtec is very easy in that they have 2 jars. A 3quart jar (also known as a wildside jar) and a 2 quart jar. They only vary for use: commercial, residential or chef. Vita mix on the other hand is slightly more complicated. Currently Vita mix has 4 popular types of jars; Traditional, XP, Advanced and XL. Unlike the Blendtec jars, Vitamix allows you to swap out the blades in a particular jar. Ice dry and wet blades will fit in the Traditional jar where as the rest each have their individual blades for the jars(Xp with xp Advanced with advanced…)

On my holiday wish list is the Blendtec HP3A Home Blender. This blender is no comparison to the twenty dollar cheap blender I’ve had. The HP3A has a digital display that makes selecting cycles super easy. You can push a button and let the blender do the rest. There is practically nothing this blender cannot blend. The power of this machine can blend even the most difficult ingredients. I love to make soups and smoothies and I know this blender can handle that. This blender comes in three different colors it’s hard to choose my favorite. Also, getting an additional wildside jar free is an added bonus to my Christmas present!
