Francis Francis has
been creating machines in the traditional
pump espresso tradition.
From chromed brass porta-filters to brass valves to brass boilers, the metal components of
the
Francis Francis
X1,
X3,
and
X5 are superior in every way to the
plastic and aluminum guts found in many mass market pump espresso machines.
The introduction of the Francis Francis X6 marks an innovative departure
from Trazzi's previous units. Although all of the original
Francis Francis X
series espresso makers were capable of brewing both pods and ground
espresso coffee, the new
X6
Trio is designed for exclusive use with ESE espresso
pods.
The difference is in the
X6
Trio's brew head. First, the porta-filter
departs from previous Francis Francis pod porta-filters in that it does
not require a particular filter basket to be inserted for ESE espresso
pods. Instead, the entire porta-filter has been designed to accommodate
a single ESE espresso pod.
Additionally, the bell, the part of the espresso machine that accepts
the porta-filter, is formed for complete integration with the pod-only
porta-filter. The unique channeling inside the bell allows you to
rotate the porta-filter into one of three positions, each marked with a
unique drink icon. This intuitive porta-filter positioning system
leaves the guesswork out of drink production. Additionally, the sophisticated electronic card
inside the
X6 controls what type of drink to make, depending on where
the porta-filter is set in the bell. Set the porta-filter under
the small cup icon, and the
X6 brews a single ristretto (short
espresso). Set the porta-filter under the middle cup icon, and a normal espresso is brewed.
Finally, set the porta-filter under the large cup icon and a long
espresso coffee is brewed.
The Francis Francis X6
is an ideal choice for the style-conscious coffee enthusiast. It
builds upon all of the pod-friendly features of the original Francis
Francis X series machines and incorporates the sleek look for which
Francis Francis is now famous. Although it lacks a mostly metal
exterior, the high gloss durable ABS exterior allows its price to be
significantly less than other Francis Francis units.
