Not yours of course, but rather the legs and ribs and joints of animals that are too tough for fine edge knives to tackle. The fully forged 4 mm-thick blade is heavier than smaller cleavers, which allows you to chop less and let the knife do more of the work for you, such as using a large hammer in favor of a lightweight. The Wusthof 8 Inch Cleaver attacks more than just meat; it chops large vegetables such as squash with a heavy, quick motion. The flat sides of the blade can be used to tenderize meat or crush garlic, and the butt end as a pestle to pulverize seeds.
