Exceptional Fully Automatic Coffee Maker	November 4, 2010

This machine makes an excellent cup of coffee and seems to be very well made:

Pros:
* Coffee bean hopper is very big but has a spacer reducer if you need it.
* Coffee comes out hot!, actually burnt my tongue on it the first time ;)
* Programmable on time so it's ready in the morning when you wake up
* Auto milk frothing attachment works great, consistent frothed milk every time.
* Metal coffee bean grinder, it's still noisy but quieter than many other machines.
* Large water tank.
* Very easy to clean, just slide out containers wash them out, put back in, also has a handy permanent cleaning instructions attached to the machine.
* Digital display is easy to read, pretty intuitive too, except you must change coffee/steam amounts during cycle

Cons:
* Water holder is plastic but it seems like everyone does that.
* The hot plate on top is not very hot
* Seems like break in period requires early descaling.

I previously bought a Delonghi ESAM3300. I loved the convenience and coffee, unfortunately it broke very quickly. After doing some research, I bought the Krups. It has held up perfectly. I can't imagine not having it now. My wife and I love the long coffee and the espresso. It has better adjustment options than the Delonghi, and froths milk better. It is an all around better unit, and at $499.00, I would buy another one tomorrow. LOVE IT!!!!!

I'm on my 3rd drink. Machine starts going through the process, and "pop" water comes out the bottom of the machine.

$500 and this? Krups is freaking kidding me.

I read a few reviews about dubious reliability and water out the bottom. Apparently, Krups completely missed the fact espresso making is about pressure and didn't bother to actually plumb the silly thing to withstand it's own pump.

Send it back? No, thanks, sooner or later I'll grind some bean that powders a bit more than some and poof I'll be out the machine for another warranty cycle. Need to fix once and for all.

All espresso machines clog now, or again. Too fine a grind, too hard a tamp, and water simply won't go through the brick.

I think the term is "not suitable for the intended purpose". Now, I'm off to DIY myself an espresso maker with a parts kit I just bought from Krups. If that's what you intended, then I recommend this machine most highly.
