True E61 Brew Group with Pre-Infusion
The La Nuova Era Cuadra Commercial Espresso Machine brews using an E61 brew group. What is that, you ask? E61 is aptly named because its original design was introduced in 1961. Suffice it to say, there have been very few improvements since then because the technology really is that good. Built from heavy marine-grade brass, the E61 group does offer a different brewing experience though. Rather than pushing a button on and off (or having a programmed one) to brew, on the La Nuova Era Cuadra, you raise and lower a lever on the right side of the group. In this simple operation, a number of sophisticated processes occur internally to produce exceptional espresso. When the lever is pointed down while idle, hot water is allowed to flow naturally (thermosyphon) through the heat exchanger plumbing to keep the brew group and portafilter hot. When ready to brew, raise the lever, which operates a special cam which allows water to fill a passive pre-infusion chamber, followed by the full brewing phase. When brewing is complete, lower the lever to activate the drain valve. The drain valve acts as the 3-Way solenoid valve does to allow for backflushing.
Brew Espresso And Steam/Froth Milk Simultaneously
The La Nuova Era Cuadra provides unlimited steam power and excellent thermal brewing stability thanks to the its 1.8 liter heat exchanger (HX) boiler. Steam 8 oz of milk in about 30 seconds or use the La Nuova Era Cuadra to froth 16 ounces in a larger 32 ounce pitcher.
Programmable Hot Water Dispensing
Make Americanos and brew tea with 100% fresh hot water with the Cuadra's hot water wand. A simple turn of the knob allows the steam pressure inside the boiler to push out hot water. This function can be used to drain the boiler when the unit is hot and turned off.
High Capacity Heat Exchanger (HX) Boiler with Pressure Gauge
The power plant behind the La Nuova Era Cuadra is its 1.8 L copper heat exchanger boiler. This design is found inside the vast majority of commercial espresso machines and consists of the horizontally-seated main boiler housing with an enclosed water pipe running through it. When the boiler reaches operating temperature with its robust 1400 Watt heating element, it is about half full of super heated water and half full of pressurized dry steam. Regulated by an adjustable, commercial Mater XP700 pressurestat, the Cuadra also features a boiler pressure gauge to aid in adjustment and diagnostics. The brewing water passes through the enclosed pipe and is flash heated to the optimum temperature.
High Capacity Water Tank
The La Nuova Era Cuadra features a 3 liter removable water tank which can also be refilled without removing it. The tank rests on a floating platform with a micro-switch beneath to alert you when the water level is low.
Commercial Portafilter and Baskets
The E61 brew group on the La Nuova Era Cuadra uses 58 mm stamped stainless steel filter baskets, each for a single and double shot. These baskets fit snugly into the included commercial portafilter made from chrome-plated marine grade brass.
Boiler Protection Features
To ensure long life and protection against over heating and burnout, La Nuova Era built the Cuadra's boiler with a safety feature called Auto-Refill. This system keeps an eye on the water level in the boiler and when the level falls below a certain point, the computer controlled water level system automatically adds more water. It is important to keep water in the tank for this reason, so the tank has a low water indicator.
Durable Construction
The La Nuova Era Cuadra's powder-coated steel frame features a polished stainless steel front, rear and top, as well as durable ABS Plastic side panels. The polished face and top are easy to clean and add to the beauty.
Warranty And Support
The La Nuova Era Cuadra features a 1 Year warranty for either home or commercial use for manufacture defect and workmanship and covers internal parts excluding replaceable parts such as the group head gasket, steam or water gaskets, portafilter basket, and shower screen. Any damage resulting from abuse, misuse, mishandling, lack of maintenance, or catastrophe will not be covered.
