Kyotop Damascus Series Knives Kyocera’s premium line of cutlery, the beautiful ceramic Kyotop Damascus Series, is made with the same advanced ceramic as the Revolution Series but with an added HIP process. This HIP or Hot Isostatic Pressed process involves the ceramic blades being torched for a second time over extreme temperatures and high pressure in a sealed chamber. As a result, the density throughout the advanced ceramic blade is increased which leads to a stronger, more durable knife. The stunning Damascus-looking blades are complemented by triple-riveted Pakka wood handles that resist moisture and bacteria.
Ceramic Cutlery? Advanced ceramic is the 2nd hardest material on the planet, coming in right behind diamonds on the hardness scale. Ceramic components are found in many instances where extreme wear-resistance is vital, like satellites, bone-replacements, and racecar brake pads. Since cutlery needs to be extremely hard to retain its edge, using advanced ceramic as the material was a no-brainer. Ceramic cutlery retains its edge 10 times longer than steel knives and weighs half as much. Also, the knives won’t rust or absorb unwanted chemicals. But Kyocera went above and beyond to create a proprietary formula for advanced ceramic that was unmatched by competitors.
Kyocera’s Advanced Ceramic Formula: Zirconia 206 The element found in this advanced ceramic, Zirconium Oxide, is formed naturally after thousands of years of crystallization. Once the hard rock is extracted, it’s scorched to extreme temperatures and over tons of pressure at their facility in Japan and transformed into Kyocera’s unique Zirconia 206. Their version of advance ceramic features a more uniform distribution of denser particles and tighter molecules, leaving minimal voids or weak spots along the blade.
Lifetime Warranty with Complimentary Sharpening Service You don’t need to sharpen your Kyocera knives; in fact, it’s recommended to not sharpen them yourself. Pay only shipping and handling to Kyocera and they will use a diamond wheel to restore the factory edge, and return it to you from their facility in Southern CA.
