Cleaning, or backflushing, will remove built-up coffee oils that harm the taste of espresso and also impede the proper flow of brewing water. This stainless steel blank (or blind) portafilter has no holes stamped in it, and it is used to "backflush" the brew group on espresso machines equipped with 3-way solenoid valves, such as Rancilio, Pasquini, Nuova Simonelli and others. When used with Urnex Cafiza cleaning powder, the backflush cycle will clean the shower screen and brew group, in addition to the solenoid valve. Compatibility
This blank portafilter basket is made by Rancilio for the Silvia and Epoca as well as all of their past and present commercial espresso machines. It will also work with any other commercial espresso machine with both a 58 mm portafilter and either an E61 brew group or a 3-way solenoid valve on the brew group (such as the Nuova Simonelli Oscar or Pasquini Livia.) |
