- How is "semi-automatic" different from "automatic" and "super automatic? What type of unit is this?
When we use the term "semi-automatic", we mean a machine that is such that the user must press a button both to start and to stop the brew process. When we use the term "automatic", we mean a machine that is such that the user needs only to press a button once and the machine stops and starts the brew process. When we use the term "super-automatic", we mean a machine that will grind, tamp, brew, and dispose of grounds all with one push of a button. The Saeco Talea Giro is a super-automatic.
- The Saeco Talea Giro takes coffee beans, but can it take pods or capsules?
The Saeco Talea Giro can only take coffee beans or pre-ground coffee.
- This machine uses a ceramic grinder, whereas other Saeco super-automatic coffee centers use a stainless steel burr grinder. What's the difference?
The newest generation of Saeco units are fitted with durable ceramic cutting burrs, which are extremely robust, and deliver a quieter grind than stainless cutting burrs. Furthermore, the construction of this grinder makes for a more even grind than previous metal grinders, which means less coffee dust, and less residue left over in your cup.
- What's the difference between this machine and other Saeco super-automatic coffee centers?
As with most of the newest Saeco units, like the Primea series and Odea series, the Talea line features Saeco SBS brewing system. In addition, the Talea Giro utilizes Rapid Steam for fast steam/brew recovery times, takes advantage of a longer steam arm which can be connected to the Saeco Milk Frothing Island, and features a total redesign in color and shape, designed by BMW DesignworksUSA.
- What's the difference between the Saeco Talea Ring Plus and the Saeco Talea Giro?
The Ring Plus features a digital display and allows for total programmability of the unit, including the ability to set drink size and strength, brew temperature, on and off times, and much more. The Giro, on the other hand, uses LEDs and illuminated indicators to communicate with the user. Additionally, the Ring plus uses a different selector interface, including a unique ring dial, whereas the Saeco Talea Giro's selectors are several click buttons. Although both the Talea Giro and the Talea Ring Plus can use the Saeco Milk Island, only the Talea Ring Plus includes the Milk Island. If you purchase the Giro, you must purchase the Saeco Milk Island separately.
- This machine features the Saeco "SBS" brewing system (the dial on the front of the brewing spout). How does that work?
The SBS brewing system allows one and the same machine to produce an indefinite number of coffee drinks with the push of the same brew button. Use the dial on the front of the coffee spout to select the type (strength) of brew, then hit the brew button. So, if someone wants a cafe Americano (a long espresso, or espresso with added hot water), and someone else wants a short espresso (ristretto), each person can press the same brew button and easily select the drink type using the SBS dial. - What happens if my machine breaks or I have problems using it within one year of my purchase?
Our staff is trained in the use and maintenance of this machine, however Saeco offers a 12 month warranty during which time the machine will be repaired or replaced. All repairs are handled by Cafe West, JL Hufford's Saeco Repair facility. The customer will pay shipping cost to get it to our repair facility, and the cost of shipping the unit back to the customer is covered under warranty (subject to terms and limitations of warranty). All parts and labor are warrantied for one year, and when you purchase from JL Hufford, an additional year of service is included (that means your Saeco Talea Giro is covered for two years).
- How long will it take for my machine to arrive if I get standard ground shipping?
If we ship your machine standard Ground via FedEx, then the estimated delivery time is three to five business days starting on the business day that the item is ordered if the item is ordered prior to 1:00 pm EST. If the item is ordered after 1:00 pm EST, it usually ships same or next business day.
