Doserless Espresso Grinder
The Nuova Simonelli Grinta is categorized as a doserless espresso grinder. This means that it grinds directly into the container of your choice, usually a portafilter. A doser grinder, like the Nuova MCF, grinds into a mounted hopper with a doser lever that dispenses a shot's worth of espresso grounds with the pull of a lever. Operating the Grinta is a snap with the micro-switch directly beneath the dispensing chute. Depress the switch to begin grinding and release it stop. The Nuova Simonelli Grinta is perfectly paired with the Nuova Oscar espresso machine.
Commercial Grade Steel Burrs
Nuova Simonelli knows that espresso machines are finicky when it comes to not only the fineness of the grind, but also the consistency. To tackle these demands, the Grinta begins with 50 mm hardened steel grinding burrs. Theses burrs are sharp and durable and can withstand heavy use. The bottom burr spins while the top burr is stationary and set in a threaded brass cylinder. The locking pin holds the top burr in place and allows you to set your fineness with up to 92 settings (granted there are only 1 or 2 that will yield perfect espresso). Atop the grinder sits a large-capacity tinted bean hopper that holds over a pound of espresso beans.
Powerful Grinding Motor
Grinding espresso on a regular basis is incredibly stressful on equipment, and some grinders just cannot be expected to hold up to that pressure. The Nuova Simonelli Grinta, however, was built with a hefty 220 Watt motor to grind at the finest settings with ease. The Grinta will deliver approximately 1 gram of espresso powder per second which works out to about 7 seconds per shot of espresso.
Solid Construction
The internal parts of the Nuova Simonelli Grinta are protected by a durable ABS plastic body, available with 3 color choices (cranberry red, black, metallic silver). It resist scratches and is easy to clean. The bean hopper is just as durable and is also tinted to prevent damage to your beans done by harmful UV rays. In addition, a removable catch tray sits beneath the dispensing chute to minimize the mess on your kitchen counter.
