About Certified Pre-Brewed™
All Certified Pre-Brewed™ Jura-Capresso machines are units that have been factory serviced at Jura-Capresso's North America service facility. Each unit has a factory-serviced sticker on the bottom of it indicating that it was returned to Capresso for any one of a variety of reasons. The machine was bench tested on all brew functions and repaired, if necessary. Since all machines are "like new", they have a full Jura-Capresso one year warranty, which ensures that Jura-Capresso will cover any warranty repair and shipping costs associated with that repair (to the lower contiguous 48 states) for the first year. Beware of other sellers offering refurbished units that were serviced in-house, as the manufacturer may not honor the warranty for an unauthorized product. These units all come with JL Hufford's 30 Day Satisfaction Policy.
Visual Programming
The Jura-Capresso Impressa C5 brews espresso and crema coffee at the touch of a button and at the same time allows you to choose from 3 strength settings and also visually set the amount of coffee or espresso you would like to brew. This is quite convenient for any of those among us who don't know the actual volume of each cup (raise your hand, you know who you are). To set your desired drink size, place a cup beneath the spout; turn the rotary switch to the desired drink setting; press the switch until the light bar above the dial begins flashing; coffee preparation will start and espresso will begin flowing into the cup; press the switch again when the desired amount of coffee has been dispensed. The Jura-Capresso Impressa C5 will remember your cup size in the future.
Stainless Steel ThermoBlock
At the heart of the Impressa C5 is a stainless steel-lined ThermoBlock boiler. Unlike a traditional boiler, thermoblocks offer rapid warm-up times paired with efficient, on-demand water usage. Turn on the C5, and it will be ready to brew in just a few moments. ThermoBlock technology channels the water through the heating element while minimizing the amount of water heated to what the C5's user demands. This process ensures water does not become stale sitting in a boiler for an extended period of time.
Intelligent Pre Brew Aroma System (I.P.B.A.S.©)
The unique two step pre-infusion cycle moistens and conditions the ground coffee, which means maximum flavor extraction with perfect crema topping. The Impressa C5's Integrated commercial grade steel conical burr grinder has six settings which allows you to adjust the fineness for all kinds of beans - from light to dark roasts. With the C5 you can brew one to sixteen ounce cups of coffee in two aroma and three strength settings. It grinds from 5 to a maximum of 16 grams of coffee from mild to strong. The C5 will automatically discard up to 16 pucks (used coffee portions) before its puck container gets full.
Integrated Pure Water System (I.P.W.S.©)
The advanced Clearyl Blue filtration system prevents water impurities from entering sensitive areas of the machine, causing damage, and altering the taste of the coffee produced. A change filter message will be displayed when it is time to replace the cartridge (about every 6-10 weeks or 16 gallons). The C5 will also prompt you when it is time to clean the machine, so proper maintenance is a breeze.
Dual Frother PLUS
For frothing and steaming smaller amounts of milk (for one or two cups) the Dual Frother Plus is fast and easy to use. With settings for latte (steaming milk) and cappuccino (steaming and frothing milk), you will be able to prepare your desired beverage in just a short amount of time. Immerse the Dual Frother PLUS into your milk pitcher and push the steam button the bring the C5 up to steaming temperature in about twenty seconds. The C5 will display when it is ready to steam, and you may even use the Rotary Switch to dial in your desired steaming time after which it will automatically shut off the steam allowing you to walk away if you wish.
Optional Automatic Milk Frother
The FrothXpress system (sold separately) helps you to prepare perfect cappuccinos and lattes cup after cup. It automatically siphons milk from the cold milk container, combines it with hot steam and delivers hot, frothed milk into your Cappuccino cups. Turn the dial to the latte setting, and the frothXpress will deliver hot steamed milk with very little or no froth for that delicious Latte.

The Impressa C5 comes equipped with many features you would expect to find on higher priced units. We will name only a few, as the list is very long. The C5 automatically rinses itself upon start-up to prevent that dreaded cold first shot of the day. A bypass doser for pre-ground coffee provides the user a hassle-free method to quickly change to a different flavor or decaffeinated. A 64 ounce water tank, 8 ounce bean hopper, and a height-adjustable dual coffee spout ensure cup after cup of uninterrupted brewing of beverages, large or small. The coffee brewing illuminated buttons add an extra touch of elegance. With its glossy black body contrasted by a striking chrome coffee spout and other chrome accents, and a stainless steel grid, the C5 looks as good as it performs.
