 Upgraded Conical Burrs on New Virtuoso Preciso
Always on the cutting edge, Baratza is already upgrading their just-released Virtuoso Preciso Grinder with new conical burrs (see image above). The new burr design not only increases the speed of the grinding, but it also greatly improves upon the quality and consistency of the ground coffee. For speed, the new Virtuoso Preciso (compared to the first release and the regular Virtuoso) ramps up from the old 0.8-1.1 grams/second to an incredible 1.8-2.5 g/sec! What does this mean for you? Instead of needing about 18 seconds to grind a traditional double shot of espresso, you will only need about 10. The quality improvement comes from upgraded primary cutting teeth and a better cutting edge overall. This results in fewer coffee fines (dust) which will reduce channeling for espresso to improve extractions. It also means less sludge in your coffee cup or pot when brewing via drip, vacuum/siphon pot, or French Press. Bottom line: the Baratza Virtuoso Preciso will blow your mind for a sub-$300 grinder!
Macro and Micro Espresso Settings
Taking a page from its mentor the Vario, the Baratza Virtuoso Preciso allows you the ultimate level of precision to tune in your coffee grind to any coffee maker or espresso machine. Simply turn the bean hopper to any of the 40 broad (macro) setting ranges from espresso to French Press, and use the Micro lever to fine tune 11 more settings in between between each step for a total of 401 settings. (Yes, we checked our math; the 11th micro setting takes you to the next macro step.) This versatility is especially useful for dialing in a grinder to espresso machines with commercial filter baskets such as the Rancilio Silvia.
PortaHolder Included with Purchase
The Baratza Virtuoso Preciso comes standard with the PortaHolder. The PortaHolder slides into the spot where the 5 ounce grounds bin normally sits and allows you to insert your espresso portafilter and grind hands-free. There is no longer a need to stand and hold your portafilter in place throughout the grinding process because your portafilter will lock into place and stay there until you remove it. The Baratza PortaHolder is easily adjusted to fit any home or commercial portafilter.
Commercial Grade Grinder Burrs
The Baratza Virtuoso Preciso features the same Italian 40mm conical cutting burrs in the Virtuoso are similar to those found in heavy-duty commercial coffee grinders. As with all conical burr grinders, the Virtuoso Preciso surpasses entry level flat burr grinders and blade grinders by producing consistent grinds from very fine to coarse, as well as having blades that remain sharp over years of serious use. In addition to exceptional cutting burrs, the burrs themselves have a precision mounting system to ensure a stable platform for accurate grinding. What's more, each Virtuoso Preciso is calibrated before it leaves the factory. This ensures that the conical burrs are spaced the precise distance apart for all types of grinding from Espresso to French Press.
Extra-Powerful Grinding Motor
Larger grinding burrs require an improved motor and additional power to turn. Never one to disappoint, the Baratza Virtuoso Preciso is driven by an incredible 240 Watt DC motor. This does not mean that the Virtuoso any faster, however. It employs special gear reduction to make the unit grind more slowly. The power of the motor keeps it from seizing on the finest of grind settings, and the gear reduction protects the flavor of your coffee. Slower grinding means not only a quieter grind, but a cooler grind, resulting in less aroma oils being lost during grinding. In fact, at just 450 RPM, the Baratza Virtuoso Preciso grinder delivers the quietest, coolest grind in its class. The new circuitry also incorporates an automatically re-setting thermal cut-off switch for optimal performance.
Sturdy Build
A brushed satin metallic top with black plastic shield sit on top of a thick metallic base. The base, combined with heavy-duty inner components, make the 9 lb. Baratza Virtuoso Preciso grinder one of the heaviest in its class. That means little rocking when you remove the grounds container or put a portafilter under the dispensing chute or into the included PortaHolder. The frosted plastic bean hopper and grounds container reduces static build-up of coffee grounds.
Smart Timed Grinding
The Baratza Virtuoso Preciso has a maximum 60 second timer dial with indefinite increments in between. Are you brewing for a twelve cup French press or a twelve cup coffee maker? The graphically segmented timer dial can be set to the same time each grinding, for ultimate convenience.
Easy Espresso Grinding
Need to grind into an espresso portafilter? No problem, the Baratza Virtuoso Preciso is also equipped with a "pulse button" on the front. This handy feature lets you grind for just as long as you press the button. Just remove the grounds container and place the portafilter underneath the grounds chute. Then, press the pulse button until the portafilter is filled to the desired level.
Easy Maintenance
The Baratza Virtuoso Preciso continues the Baratza Maestro tradition of easy-to-clean grinding burrs. Just twist off the bean hopper, and the inner conical burr can easily be lifted out. The outer burr can then be brushed along with the inner burr. Replace and you're done! No screws or bolts to mess with.

The Baratza Virtuoso Preciso comes with a one year manufacturer's warranty. Baratza offers two-tiered support via email or phone. If any issue with a Baratza product cannot be resolved over support channels, Baratza will send a prepaid return label for the defective unit and ship a new unit. You don't pay for the repair! |
